Take Advantage of Our Invisalign Special!

March 18, 2014

she seems happy...Having gapped or misaligned teeth can really put a strain on how you feel about yourself. If you are not confident in your smile, it can leak into many different areas of your life. You may find it difficult to put yourself out there, meet new people, or do simple things just to avoid the embarrassment. Thankfully, Dr. Michael Kirk understands the insecurities people may have about their smile, which is why he offers Invisalign to his patients.

When people think about braces, they may think about the traditional braces and having a mouth full of metal. Though traditional braces are an option, you may want a solution that is more discreet and accommodating to your lifestyle. That is where Invisalign comes in. Being barely visible on your teeth, this is a wonderful option for those who want to keep their straightening process under the radar.

Invisalign works by using a series of aligners made specifically for your smile. Each aligner signifies a stage in your straightening process, and when you have completed one stage, simply apply the next aligner in the series and move forward to the next stage. At the end of the series of aligners, your smile is straight and beautiful!

If you are worried you will not be able to afford Invisalign, you are in luck, as El Reno Family Dentistry is offering an amazing special for our patients! Through March and April, we are offering $500 off of Invisalign! It is our way of thanking our patients for being so wonderful and loyal to our practice. Take advantage of this amazing offer, and start your journey to a perfect, straightened smile today!

Celebrate National Children’s Dental Month at El Reno Grand Dental Studio

February 17, 2014

She's excited about brushing her teef!Though February is National Children’s Dental Month, many people may not think their child’s smile is anything to worry about. A child’s smile is just as important, if not more, than an adult’s, as their teeth are more at risk of being infected. Dr. Michael Kirk and Dr. Adam Cohlmia understand the importance of your child’s smile, which is why they offer children’s dentistry!

It is important to establish healthy dental habits in your child at an early age. When your little one becomes aware of the proper ways to take care of their teeth early on, they are able to carry those healthy routines with them throughout their life. An important aspect in children’s dentistry is dental sealants. The molars and premolars have deep grooves and pits, giving bacteria an ideal breeding environment. The dental sealants offer your child’s smile protection by covering those grooves, preventing harmful bacterium from making your child’s smile their home. Dental sealants are a key component in cavity prevention, as the molars and premolars are the primary chewing teeth.

Another important area in children’s dentistry is fluoride treatments. Fluoride is an interesting mineral, as they attract other minerals to help your child’s teeth become strong. Tap water is a good way for your child to get fluoride, but because many people use bottled water, your child could be missing out. When your child comes in for their appointment, our team will be able to determine whether or not their smile needs a fluoride boost. Both dental sealants and fluoride treatments are wonderful and effective ways to keep your child’s smile as healthy and beautiful as possible!

Take advantage of National Children’s Dental Month, and make your child’s appointment today! We will be able to set them up for success, and they will be able to have a wonderful smile!

Whiten Your Smile in Time For Valentine’s Day!

February 3, 2014

Wow. This chick is excited about something. When you are insecure about your smile, it can prevent you from doing a lot of things. You may feel too self-conscious to meet new people, laugh, or make a lasting first impression. Though it may not seem like a big deal, having discovered teeth can really take a toll on your self-esteem. Because Dr. Adam Cohlmia and Dr. Michael Kirk understand how you feel, they offer teeth whitening services to their patients. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this is a great way to make sure you have the white smile you have always wanted!

There are many things that can affect the luminosity of your smile. Coffee, tea, tobacco use, and even certain medications can discolor your smile. The good news is that there are a couple of different ways we can whiten your teeth. The first is our in-office whitening, which gives you a quicker result.  The process involves applying professional bleaching gel onto your teeth, which is able to erase set-in stains in less than an hour!

The other whitening option is our at-home whitening system. With this, we supply you with customized, clear trays that fit your mouth. We will also provide you with the whitening gel, and you will wear the trays every day as directed. Though you will be able to notice a whiter smile almost immediately, this is a more gradual whitening of your smile. The full results will show within two weeks!

A few of the benefits of whitening your smile is that it restores your confidence. If you have spent too much time feeling less than confident about your smile, this is the perfect opportunity for you to make a change for the better! Also, with Valentine’s Day around the corner, this would be the perfect gift for yourself! If you have any questions on how our doctors can help you with your teeth whitening process or would like to make an appointment, contact our El Reno office!

Welcome the New Year with Healthy Gums

January 6, 2014

Despite what some people may think, gum disease is quite serious if not taken care of. With over 80% of the population living with some form of gum disease, chances are you could be suffering from it and may not be aware. If left untreated, gum disease can affect different parts of your body, possibly resulting in bone loss, heart disease, stroke, and many other serious situations. Thankfully, Dr. Michael Kirk and Dr. Adam Cohlmia are able to tackle your gum disease with gum disease therapy.

A couple of the ways we treat gum disease non-surgically is scaling. Scaling removes the tartar, also known as calculus, from below the gum line. We may also do a laser treatment, which attacks only the affected gum tissue, while also promoting healthy gum tissue to grow and attach to your teeth.  Root planing is another way of helping halt gum disease, as it lessens the rough areas on your teeth’s roots.

There are things you can do at home to prevent gum disease. Flossing and brushing your teeth twice daily, preferably after every meal, is a wonderful way to eliminate the bacteria from sitting in your mouth. Also, investing in an antibacterial mouthwash is a great way to erase the bacteria your tooth brush may have missed. If you cannot brush your teeth after every meal, chewing gum is a great option, as it catches food particles, not allowing them to make your gums their new home.

If you feel as though our Drs. Kirk and Cohlmia are able to help you with the needs of your gums, make an appointment at our El Reno office, and we’d be more than willing to assist you on your journey to dental excellence!

Start 2014 with a New Smile with Porcelain Veneers

December 10, 2013

For a lot of us, it is hard to believe that 2013 is coming to an end and 2014 is fast approaching. With millions of people already making their resolutions lists, here at El Reno Family Dentistry, we think your teeth should be a top priority for the upcoming New Year. Why not welcome the New Year with a new smile using porcelain veneers or Lumineers? A wonderful way to change your smile for the better, let our experienced doctors and team help you welcome 2014 with a bang!

Your journey to getting porcelain veneers starts with a consultation with our dentists. They will be able to evaluate the current state of your teeth, ask you about your long term goals regarding your smile, and they will be able to answer any questions or concerns you may have. If you are a candidate, our doctors will make impressions of your teeth. With those impressions, the dental lab is able to create your custom veneers.

When the time comes to apply your porcelain veneers, your natural tooth is prepared, removing a little bit of the enamel to make room for the veneers. Your veneer surrounds your natural tooth, and is made permanent with resin cement. If taken care of, your veneers can last for up to 10 years!

If you want another option, there are Lumineers brand veneers. With Lumineers, there is little to no tooth preparation. There are no shots or drills, which is great for those who have phobias when it comes to the dentist. With proper care, Lumineers can last up to 20 years! Definitely a great investment in the long run.

One of the wonderful benefits to porcelain veneers and Lumineers is the fact they look like your natural tooth! Like a lot of people who have any cosmetic work done, they may not want the work to be obvious and apparent, and with veneers and Lumineers, it allows you to look natural while also improving your confidence. They are also stain resistant, so you’re sure to have your smile pearly white at all times! You will be able to join your friends in a laugh and even have the bravery to make a joke yourself, knowing your smile is perfect! After working so hard in 2013, we think you and your smile deserve to kick off 2014 the best way possible.

If you’d like to set up an appointment, call us today at El Reno Family Dentistry. Our office is located in El Reno and serves patients from El Reno, Yukon, Minco, Calumet, Hinton, and other communities in the Canadian County.

Smile Bright This Summer

June 14, 2013

This summer, Grand Dental El Reno wants to make sure you keep your teeth healthy while enjoying all the fun this season has to offer. With a few simple tips, your smile will be shining brightly all summer long.

It’s important to remember that your teeth were designed to help you cut and tear apart food while eating it. They weren’t meant to be used as bottle openers, ice crushers, hangers, or scissors. Using your teeth for functions they just weren’t meant to perform can cause cracks or fractures that may be costly to repair.

Many times we associate summer with sugary treats such as sodas, ice cream or other treats. While these are all very enjoyable, remember to consume them in moderation. The sugar can prove to be harmful to your tooth enamel. If you must drink sodas, try to use a straw because it reduces the harm to your teeth. Swapping your soda for water is an even better solution.

Finally, don’t forget to come visit us for your regular dental checkup. Our caring staff will clean your teeth and remove any plaque or tartar that might be built up on your teeth. We’ll also check for signs of disease, decay or other damage. We’re here to help you with any questions or concerns you might have about your smile.

Take the time this summer to make a commitment to your dental health. With these small steps you can ensure you’ll have a healthy smile both this summer and all year long.

Freshen Up Your Smile With Porcelain Veneers from Grand Dental El Reno

April 16, 2013

Is your smile suffering from chips, cracks or gaps? Are your teeth stained, worn, misshaped or misaligned? Porcelain veneers and Lumineers from Grand Dental El Reno can be used to correct all these concerns. Start off the spring season right with a fresh, bright smile.

Since porcelain veneers are attached to the front of your teeth, they can immediately have an impact on your smile. They can change the way your smile is viewed. We will carefully craft your veneers to resemble natural teeth for a beautiful smile.

There are two different kinds of veneers, traditional and minimal-prep, and we offer both solutions. We offer Lumineers, which is a minimal or no-prep smile solution. For traditional veneers, your teeth are prepared for the procedure by having some of your enamel removed. Since Lumineers are thinner than traditional veneers, little to no removal of your tooth structure is needed. This makes the procedure more comfortable and eliminates the need to wear temporary veneers during the veneer process.

At Grand Dental El Reno, we want all our patients to have a beautiful smile this spring. Porcelain veneers and Lumineers could be a great way to transform your smile. Give us a call to learn more or see if this could be the right solution for your teeth.

Helping Patients Treat Their Overall Health through Periodontal Therapy

April 25, 2012

Every time you come to Grand Dental for a regular visit, our doctors will spend part of that time inspecting your smile for gum disease. We do this for two reasons. First, treating and preventing gum disease is an effective way of reducing your potential for large dental problems later on. Second, when left untreated, the effects of gum disease can spread beyond your smile to the rest of your body.

A number of health problems have been linked to gum disease so far (as we mentioned in our last post) including stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, and pre-term birth, but the one we want to focus on in this post is heart disease.

How exactly can gum disease affect the heart?

Although their exact relationship is still a matter of research, it’s believed that harmful bacteria are able to access the heart through pockets that form between the teeth and gums when gum disease isn’t treated. Which is why periodontal therapy is such a vital service.

At Grand Dental, we offer charting and diagnostic services as well as in-office non-surgical periodontal therapy to help gum disease patients reclaim their oral and overall health. Treating and preventing gum disease isn’t guaranteed to prevent heart disease, but it will help you shore up your overall health, which can benefit your body in myriad ways.

Are you ready to schedule your next regular appointment with our El Reno, Oklahoma office? If so, call us today. Dr. Michael Kirk and Associates at Grand Dental El Reno serve patients from all across Canadian County.
